The Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Portland is pleased to partner with the DAISY Foundation to honor nursing excellence and is proud to announce its’ winter 2011DAISY Award recipient, Jane Wick.
Wick has been an Operating Room Nurse at the Shriners Hospitals for Children for the past nine years. Prior to joining Shriners Hospitals for Children she worked as a traveling nurse and trauma specialist for a total of 27 years in the profession.
The peers who nominated Wick said, “She is an exceptional clinician and patient advocate for children in the operating room. She is dependable and reliable, and you can see that her peers and the physicians respect her knowledge.” In announcing the award Patrick Bonesteel, manager of Surgical Services department commented, “Wick has the most comprehensive nursing knowledge of any OR nurse I have ever known. She willingly shares this knowledge, not only within the department but by volunteering to give in-services to other areas to assist patient care.” Wick is the chief author of several professional articles (including two cover articles for AORN journal) and has spoken at several conferences.
Whether she is practicing, educating, or writing, Wick is all about the patient, striving to provide the safest and most therapeutically beneficial experience possible. She is recognized as someone who truly makes a difference.
