There are not many pure-hearted and genuinely caring beings in this world but I was blessed to be cared for by one of the most amazing nurses at Bridgeport Hospital. I am a burn survivor after being in a bad motorcycle accident. I feel like I've been through hell and back. Throughout my stay on the Burn Unit, Janei has given me the safest and most attentive care I've ever received. One day while Janei was changing my bandages, she explained to me the appearance of my burn and that it was not making progress how I had expected it to. I was angry, I started crying. I had been through multiple skin grafts and I felt like giving up. Janei knew the right words to say. She told me that the road ahead is a long one. I'll take 5 steps forward and 10 steps back but to keep on going. She always came into the room with a smile. She took excellent care of me and I felt comfortable knowing my life was in the hands of someone competent and compassionate. She always explained things before doing it, she was so gentle. She taught me more about burns, the healing process, and how to prevent infection by washing my hands. She encouraged me at my darkest moments. She is more than just a nurse; she is an advocate, a confidant, a teacher, and friend. Thank you for going above your call of duty and for giving me hope!
