Janel is a recent MHSON graduate and works in the CVICU at UPMC Mercy. Since coming to the unit, Janel displays professional behaviors and dedicated compassion to the patients she cares for. Her commitment to the patients and families she cares is evident in every interaction.
Recently, Janel was challenged with a difficult family who was having trouble coming to terms with the unfortunate fate of their daughter. As a result, the family was very cautious and guarded towards the healthcare team; and most conversations were less than pleasant. Janel was able to delicately communicate her desire to care for their daughter while setting limitations at the same time. This is a skill set that takes years to master, and it comes quite naturally to Janel. I am fortuante to have her as a team member in the CVICU.
