... an 18 year old full term pregnant female was admitted to 5A for suicidal ideation. The patient was agitated and would not allow care of monitoring, including fetal heart tone monitoring. The patient had a history of abuse and neglect. Janelle worked all night shift with the patient, providing support, listening, establishing rapport. Given her pregnancy, we were reluctant to give oral or IM medication. The patient responded very well to Janelle's interventions and by morning, the patient was more cooperative. Great Job, Janelle!
