We had a patient who was recently discharged, readmitted for intractable pain secondary to a terminal illness within a weeks time. Janelle had cared for this patient on his first admission and had been assigned to care for this patient again. Janelle, knowing his terminal illness from his first admission, recognized this patient. This admission Janelle realized he had so many things to take care of with family and grandchildren, with so little time that he had left. The next day Janelle took care of this patient again and brought in a book from home "Guess, How much I Love You-The recordable version", so he could record a message to his grandchildren. This truly showed a great compassion and connection she had with this patient and truly demonstrated what it means to do what we do!
