If I could thank everyone I would. Everyone was very kind and helpful and very well trained. The nurse’s respiratory therapist, doctors, and custodial workers. For Janet: Janet was very kind and encouraging. My daughter was in the PICU. She’s two and was inconsolable at night. She wanted to be held. I asked Janet if there was anyway I could sleep with my toddler, holding her on the couch instead of the crib. She said yes, of course, and promptly started rearranging all the tubes, wires, and room so I could hold my daughter so she could sleep. I laid down with my daughter on the sofa, and she immediately fell asleep. I couldn’t move. Janet proceeded to cover me (my legs) with a blanket and asked if she could take my shoes off so I could try to be as comfortable as possible. I was embarrassed but she was so kind about it and proceeded to take off my shoes when I consented. I told her I was so sorry for all of the rearranging everything so my toddler could lay on my chest to sleep, and she said, “it is no trouble”. It is hard to have a sick child, and she also said that I, the parent, need to be taken care of too, after I told her thank you for taking my shoes off.
