What makes Janet extraordinary is the way she goes beyond medical care. She listens deeply, remembers details about her patients’ lives, and engages in conversations that make treatment days easier. She has comforted my family and me in difficult times, lifted my spirits with laughter, and encouraged me to keep fighting even when I felt like I had nothing left.
I have been living with lupus for over 24 years, and for the past 5–6 years, Nurse Janet has been by my side as my injection nurse in the clinic. During that time, she has seen me at my lowest and my strongest—bedridden, in a wheelchair, walking again, and back in the wheelchair. Through every stage, every weekly encounter with her has been filled with encouragement, compassion, and positivity.

Janet is more than a nurse—she is a light during the darkest days. She has administered my Procrit and Benlysta injections with warmth, patience, and care, always greeting me with a smile and a kind word, even on the days when I could barely lift my head. She not only treats her patients, but she uplifts them, empowers them, and truly cares for their families as well.

She has also guided me to advocate for myself, providing knowledge about medications and pointing me toward the right resources and people to ensure my concerns were addressed and my needs were met. She would recognize when I needed more care and encourage me to speak to my doctor instead of keeping it in. She is always willing to help a fellow teammate and even train them. Anyone who has been trained by her has been trained by the best because she is a shining example of what a nurse and a colleague should be.

Janet became more than a nurse—she became family. Her genuine compassion, humor, encouragement, and dedication have made an immeasurable difference in my life. I truly look forward to seeing her each week. She deserves this award and recognition more than words can express, and I am forever grateful for her care, her kindness, and the friendship she has given me.
