Janet was my nurse during the first 5 hours of waiting for Dr. J. to perform a cardiac cath. Throughout my pre-surgery prep time, she endeared herself to me and to my daughter who was with me. Each and every item on the required prep phase was handled with the most loving care. Janet relieved my tension over the inserting of the drip lines. I do dislike this and stiffen up which does not help.
As if on cue and seeing my growing concern, Janet pulled out of her "professional hat" the most humorous family joke. Other staff members present joined me in laughter. Needless to say, the lines went in painlessly and I had a successful procedure. Janet is blessed with patient insight. This was obvious and appreciated for the 5 hours under her care. She mentioned 30 years devoted to her profession. Acquired skills would be expected. To this, Janet adds that rare and special human touch. I am grateful.
