Janet takes compassion, empathy, critical thinking skills, leadership, dependability, patience, observation, adaptability, and thoroughness and puts it all together to make herself an amazing nurse. Janet took me under her wing and showed me not only what it takes to be a nurse, but how to be a great one. She told me when things were right and when things were wrong. She took the time to teach me *why* things were right and wrong. She makes sure that things are done correctly in the facility to ensure the safety of staff and residents. She took the time to teach me in detail why treatments and medication are done the way they're supposed to be, what happens when they're done correctly, and when they're done incorrectly. She knows the importance of being thorough, the importance of critical thinking, and the importance of listening to our residents. She took the time out of her days to find skills for me to practice so that I gained experience. She creates wonderful patient-to-nurse relationships and the residents seem to really enjoy having her as their nurse. I believe Janet has the trust of every employee in the facility. She is the one to find an error, no matter how small and does everything to make it right. I am so grateful that she prepared me to be on my own after my orientation. She takes on a great deal of stress and makes it look so easy. I have so much respect for her as a colleague and now I can say as a friend. I have learned a tremendous amount from Janet, I'm excited to keep learning from her, and I hope that maybe I can be half of the nurse that she is.
