As nurses, we are taught to advocate for our patients. Janet goes beyond and advocates for her co-workers. When helping triage a patient, I was verbally and physically assaulted in a sexual way. This patient said inappropriate things to me and touched my behind. I casually shook it off, telling myself "oh this just happens sometimes" or "he's drunk, he doesn't know any better." Janet helped empower me to take a stand and educated me on what my rights are as a nurse and a woman! She stood with me while I reported it to the police and helped me with realizing that it's not okay and that we should expect and demand more respect. I am very thankful to have her as my advocate.
