Caring for special patient populations (adult Down Syndrome and Afghan refugees) and training multiple new nurses and medical assistants, she has demonstrated grit, determination, and a willingness to press on.
As a member of the internal medicine-pediatrics physicians who joined the UAMS Internal Medicine Department in August of 2020, and currently located at the Rahling Road Neighborhood Clinic, I would like to personally thank Janet Perry, RN.
Janet was hired in 2020 to open a new clinic with a group of brand-new doctors. When we started, we had no idea how much our group would grow to rely on Janet’s vast clinical knowledge and experience. She started at UAMS with no previous Epic EMR experience and was the only nurse in our clinic. While she learned everything on the fly, she maintained professionalism and a work ethic that is second to none.
I have commented many times to my colleagues that if she wasn’t so tough our clinic group would not still be afloat. Caring for special patient populations (adult Down Syndrome and Afghan refugees) and training multiple new nurses and medical assistants, she has demonstrated grit, determination, and a willingness to press on.
In addition to running our clinic day-to-day workflow and operations, our staff have absorbed a resident clinic starting in July of 2022. This added an additional 3-4 doctors in the building 4 days per week. Our 19 resident providers benefit working with someone with her set of skills and knowledge and rely on her to answer questions and help them learn clinic flow. This increased clinical burden has again led to staffing shortages, and we are thankful she continues to come to work every day with a positive attitude and willingness to work hard.
We want to express our gratitude from the entire Medicine-Pediatrics clinic group and give her an overdue acknowledgement in written form of all she has done and continues to do for us. Thank you. Great job, Janet!
