The family and friends of J.S. would like to thank, honor and recognize Janet Womick for the overall excellent nursing care that our loved one received.
Based on our experience, she deserves recognition for her outstanding performance that night as she exemplified the SIH hospital's core mission and values. Without getting into details, our loved one was seriously ill with acute multisystem complications. Due to condition, the patient was in distress, restless and with intermittent confusion; trying to pull out IVs and tubings. Despite the difficult and challenging situations, Janet responded and acted quickly, demonstrated extraordinary patience and compassion as she listened to us and to the patient, attended to all his needs with kindness and empathy. Janet was the glue that held everything together. When events got challenging, we noted Janet's excellent; problem-solving, interpersonal, collaborative and leadership skills as she sought help from a dedicated team of staff; that all worked well tirelessly as a team to provide quality and excellent patient care until our loved one was stabilized.
Janet was very supportive and informative, with the patient's consent she effectively communicated to us and with admirable competence the patient's disease process, diagnostic test's findings, plan of care and need for patient's transfer once stabilized. She listened and answered all our questions satisfactorily. That night she worked hard and tirelessly, as we observed her work and communication with staff, I noted that she paid excellent attention to details. She respected and maintained our loved one's dignity at all times.
Janet's clinical skills and especially her unconditional compassionate care exemplify the type of nurse that SIH patients, their families/friends, and fellow staff recognize as an outstanding role model.
