I was a patient of the Wound/Ostomy Clinic being treated by Janice for wound healing. I also have an ostomy. I had never been seen at Froedtert for ostomy care. In the course of my care, Janice asked me how I was doing with my barrier and other adhesive that I used. Janice told me that her goal is to get patients to be able to wear a barrier for 4-5 days and to use as little product as possible. She asked if she could take a look at my stoma. She suggested a different barrier and fitted a sample for me that day. I was able to wear that sample for 5 days! She ordered the same samples for me from the manufacturer and I had success with those also. So now I'm able to go 4-5 days before I have to change the barrier instead of 2 days with the old ones and I no longer need the extra adhesive. It may not seem like much to someone without a stoma, but it has honestly been life changing for me. I feel more comfortable and confident in everyday living. I am able to order less product now which saves money for me and my insurance company. I am so grateful to Janice for going above and beyond and asking about my stoma. I believe she deserves the DAISY Award.
