Janice is a Charge Nurse at night. She received four nominations for the DAISY Award from her peers. One nomination indicated, “she truly serves the staff with humbleness and grace, always making us feel singularly important”. Another peer mentioned a story about informing a patient that Janice would be the charge nurse for the shift. The patient reported, “I like that nurse because when she is in my room she takes her time and makes me feel like I am the only patient here. I feel like her whole mind and spirit are focused on me. She never makes me feel like she has somewhere else to be or like she is in a hurry to leave”. A nurse that Janice frequently works with stated, “She is compassionate and caring. Being a constant patient advocate, Janice works side by side with the nurses to provide a friendly and caring atmosphere for our patients.” Finally, a peer wrote, “ she constantly evaluates our environment looking for ways to improve both staff and patient experiences.” Everyone who knows Janice feels that she exemplifies the meaning of the DAISY Award.
