The nurse assigned to my husband to prep him for biopsy was Janice Trump. My husband was so weak; he could not walk. He was confused and had trouble speaking. Janice was so amazing. Immediately she found that his blood pressure was 72/30. He was also dehydrated. She checked and re-checked every vital sign possible with speed, confidence and accuracy. I knew without a doubt that this young woman knew exactly what she was doing and her concern and compassion for my extremely ill husband is something I will never forget. She got on the phone with his primary care physician's office, she called Lab-Corp where the blood had been drawn the previous day and she called the doctor who had ordered the biopsy. She was calm and reassuring to us but she knew that he was in dire straits and she was making sure that all the doctors involved in his case were made aware of his condition.
The biopsy was performed successfully and thanks to Janice going above and beyond the call of duty, he was admitted to the hospital directly from the Radiology Department. She was kind and sweet to us but never lost sight of the seriousness of his condition and she did everything in her power to make sure he got the care he so desperately needed.
Our journey started with Janice Trump and her compassionate care and determination to get all the facts and put them all together. She deserves this DAISY Award.
