Everyone is scared of having a blood test, some are more scared than others. But everyone is definitely scared.
Blood draw prior to chemotherapy treatment that was given directly into my veins for 1- 2 hours, is a scary episode of the treatment process.
Therefore, it is of benefit that the hospital provides a professional nurse with special clinical skills, the ability to find an adequate vein for doing the venipunctures correctly and safely. This can relieve a patient's anxiety and fear of having a blood draw.
I do not have any knowledge about veins; however, the patient often has to have blood drawn several times for the treatment. So, drawing blood with a nurse who has special clinical skills and fewer side effects can calm the patient from anxiety and fear.
In conclusion, the patient would like to have a professional nurse with phlebotomy skills, high practice experience, and well-trained in the field.
