Janna's patient was super sad that she wasn't able to celebrate Halloween this year, as it's one of her favorite holidays. Janna planned a trick-or-treat around the unit. She got the doctors, HUCs, Respiratory therapists, and nurses involved, and we all were able to give something to the patient. The patient wasn't able to have candy due to her medical condition, so Janna went around with different things we had on the unit including a coloring book, crayons, random toys, and other thoughtful things.

Janna helped the patient put on her Halloween costume and makeup, making sure she was Halloween-ready. She made sure everyone was spread out around the unit to make the patient's experience last longer and more realistic. She even turned off some of the lights to help set the mood for an actual trick-or-treating event. The patient would have completely missed out on Halloween this year, and being in the hospital is so stressful. Janna helped ease her anxiety and gave her something fun to do. The patient, with the help of Janna pushing her IV pole, walked around the unit getting all sorts of treats. Janna went above and beyond for this patient and helped her feel special in a hard time. Janna's compassion brought this patient a day she would never forget. We are so lucky to have her as a nurse on our unit.
