Janna Sweitzer, RN, BSN

My patient in labor and delivery needed to have pain control for labor. Due to the severely abnormal hemoglobin lab results, the epidural was not going to be placed until a repeat lab was drawn, delivered, and resulted. Janna Switzer came to the rescue by obtaining a STAT bedside lab test which was normal in result. She did this even though this was not a patient assigned to her or her department. By Janna going out of her way, she saved this patient one or two hours of unnecessary severe pain. We are lucky at SIH to have nurses like Janna, who truly make a vast difference in our patients’ lives.
