Recently I had the honor of caring for a patient with Janee. Her patient was critically ill, and I watched Janee work tirelessly to resuscitate her patient. She spent hours continuously at the bedside trying to do everything possible to help this child. Sadly, after a prolonged code, we were unable to resuscitate the child. The family was overcome with grief and Janee was there for support. She gave them her full attention and went out of her way to ensure they could have the time and privacy to grieve.

In our job, our goal is to do everything possible to help children recover and leave the hospital. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we cannot save every child. Janee is an excellent nurse because she understands that our role is not just to provide excellent patient care, but to help families when they are most in need. She was able to help guide this family through the unexpected grief of losing a child with grace and dignity.
