Most of all he was able to make my husband feel comfortable, easing his fears.
My husband, B, was admitted to ICU and Jared was his day nurse. Jared had such a great personality making me and my daughter feel at ease with all that was going on. He demonstrated such a caring way about his patients. He treated my husband with such kindness and by the end of his shift we had learned a lot about his personal life, had moments of laughter, and just an overall good feeling about the circumstances that brought my husband to the ICU unit. Most of all he was able to make my husband feel comfortable, easing his fears. At the end of his long shift, he still took time to tell us goodbye and wished us the best.

My husband moved off ICU the next day, returning two days later to a different location of ICU. Jared found out we had returned and started checking on my husband on his own time before or after work or on his lunch break. There were two occasions when Jared walked by and noticed my husband was needing some help and immediately stepped in to help. You always knew when Jared was walking past my husband’s room with his “happy” gait and a smile on his face.

Today after a very long shift, he still took the time to just wish my husband well and hoped he would be leaving ICU. ICU can be a very scary place to have a loved one admitted to but when you encounter such a caring person who displays how he loves his job and what a difference he makes in a person’s life helps so much. He is a true example of what makes a nurse choose this profession.
