Jared’s quick action saved the day. Jared stands out as a nurse willing and able to go beyond the normal call of duty.
What a journey! After two visits to the Genesis ER, my husband was admitted to 3 West for unknown reasons other than the symptoms he presented with.

He had been on antibiotics and his symptoms were not improving. His fingers started to become tingly and by Tuesday morning they were red and swollen. His eyes were red and irritated. This went on and by the next day it was even worse.

Jared Lumbatis was our nurse, and he was very attentive, trying to keep my husband comfortable. He took the time to clean out his eyes and made sure he had both pain medicines as soon as he could, to get the pain under control. Jared answered all questions or concerns we had.

After various tests and there was no diagnosis made, the decision was made to transfer my husband to another facility. During this time Jared was very supportive. He was staying on track with the transfer process and keeping abreast of what was going on. During one of Jared’s discussions with the staff at the other facility about the transfer he was told if it was Steven Johnson Syndrome, they could not accept the patient. Jared quickly contacted the doctors who were treating my husband and got his chart updated to ensure that all were in agreement that the diagnosis was not Steven Johnson Syndrome. This could have delayed his transfer even longer and having to get a bed at another hospital. My husband was able to be transported later that night. The dermatology team at the other hospital was able to do biopsies and diagnose him with Sweet Syndrome. He was then released after two days on several weeks of antibiotics and is improving each day.

Jared’s quick action saved the day. Jared stands out as a nurse willing and able to go beyond the normal call of duty. During our conversations with him, he told us that he has only been a nurse for a year and a half. We could not believe how attentive he was and acted so quickly to ensure the transfer to the other hospital happened as soon as a bed was available.
