Immediately upon employment, Jared’s character won him respect from his peers; his personality naturally inviting others to join in on the tone he sets.
This nomination is from several nurse coworkers on the Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care Unit. Jared Lundgren started his nursing career this year and it didn't take long to see his gifting in the field. This unit has a reputation for its difficult learning curve, especially for new grads. Many times the grit, persistence, and confidence necessary for working in this high-demand, high acuity atmosphere can be manifested through abrasive, harsh, or condescending behavior. Immediately upon employment, Jared’s character won him respect from his peers; his personality naturally inviting others to join in on the tone he sets. Jared’s kindness, patience with coworkers and patients alike, and gentle strength are grounded in a realistic optimism that is infectious to those who are privileged enough to work alongside him. Jared wields his intelligence as a tool to serve, not as a weapon to condescend or diminish. His humility is evident in the way he uses any opportunity to learn even when entirely inconvenient for his schedule. Jared is someone I'm excited to work with every day. He is a leader and I don't think he knows it. Jared sets a precedent for excellent patient care through his compassion and attention to details. One example which displays Jared’s kindness, was during the last minutes of his patient's life. Jared took intentional time to recognize the perspective of his patient's son, as his family had elected to make the patient DNR. Jared assisted the family throughout their grieving process as the patient unexpectedly passed. He valued their time, questions, and joy while they celebrated the memory of his life.
