A critically ill father had 2 teenage children, who had lost their mother two years prior. The older child stated that in the 2 weeks her dad was in the CCU Unit, she often left our unit in tears. Though not a CCU Nurse, Jarrett noticed the girl's distress and offered her comfort and a friendly ear on multiple occasions. As we moved the dad to hospice, the daughter told Jarrett that his actions meant a lot to her and helped her mourn her father's passing.
