She actually embraced me, showing her care, concern, and compassion for me as her patient.
I came to the ER to be treated for what I believed to be an abscess on my right breast. Unfortunately, I wound up losing my right breast 3 days later. I was in this hospital for a week. A couple of days after that, I had a different nurse who said she was a floater and this wasn’t her regular floor. She had walked into my room while I was having a breakdown after seeing myself for the first time with a hole in my chest, where my breast was. I was overwhelmed and crying hysterically. She took the time to sit down and listen to me, but the thing that impressed me the most was that she actually hugged me. Not just a simple hug and pat on the back. She actually embraced me, showing her care, concern, and compassion for me as her patient. I nominate her for the DAISY Award, simply because her genuine spirit carries over into her work, making her a truly caring nurse, devoted to making her patients feel better, whether it’s physically or emotionally.
