Multiple times when we came into the hospital, Jasmine would greet my husband and me by name and ask how our daughter was doing. We felt so comfortable with her.
At 34 weeks pregnant, I went to the hospital for pre-natal testing, in alignment with gestational hypertension. I found out on a Tuesday morning that I was going to be induced. With a fear of needles and the shock of finding out I would be delivering early, I was in tears with a racing heart.
Jasmine was the nurse who rolled me from the OBED to a hospital bed in Labor & Delivery. While a different nurse was inserting an IV, Jasmine let me cry on her shoulder and hold her hand. She was so comforting in these moments. Two days later, it was time to push. Jasmine was there.
Over the next ten days, my daughter would be a patient in the NICU. Multiple times when we came into the hospital, Jasmine would greet my husband and me by name and ask how our daughter was doing. We felt so comfortable with her. On the 11th day, I was readmitted with sepsis due to a UTI. Then again, Jasmin was one of my nurses. Five days later, she wheeled me out (Finally!) to be discharged to go home with my new baby girl. She was there through every step.
Whenever I find out that someone I know is delivering at Ochsner Baptist, I make sure that they know of my experience with Nurse Jasmine and that they call me if they get a chance so I can say hello! She will forever be a part of my daughter’s birth story, and she is the reason that I will deliver any future children at Ochsner Baptist.
