The patient was extremely hostile and violent and refused most medication, if not all, and even got aggressive with the staff. Jason, being the nurse for the patient that day, never once faltered in his professionalism and showed nothing but empathy and kindness. When the patient had refused to change from soiled clothes they had been in during the entire stay (approximately one week) Jason went out of his way on his lunch break and bought the patient an entire set of clothes and new shoes and changed the patient’s entire mood towards the staff and introduced what seemed to be like an entirely new patient. Seeing the patient's face light up when he brought in those shoes warmed everyone's heart on the unit.
