Jason initiated a complete bed bath instead of a quick linen change. Jason quickly washed this gentleman's hair and even went so far as to trim his nose hairs. The patient was so appreciative of the care he received. He stated that he felt like a new man, and just as we finished, his ride arrived to take him home.
I recently had the pleasure of being paired with Jason to care for the overflow patients in the Emergency Department. One of our assigned patients had spent the night in the ED hallway and was set for discharge the morning we cared for him. Due to the fact that the patient was unable to ambulate, he was waiting for transportation to be available to take him home. The patient stopped me while I was caring for a nearby patient. He told me that he felt wet and thought his catheter was leaking. Upon investigation, Jason and I found the patient to be soaking wet and requiring a complete bed change. Jason and I moved the patient into an empty room to provide him with some privacy while we cleaned him up. While we were cleaning the patient, I witnessed Jason going above and beyond for him. This is just one example among many of the ways Jason goes above and beyond for his patients. He also takes extreme pride in working at RGH. If there is downtime in the ED, Jason is sure to find something to do to keep himself busy and to help better our workplace. I have witnessed Jason cleaning the bases of our telemetry equipment and our WOWs. Jason regularly cleans out the refrigerators in the break room as well as the breakroom itself.
Jason is a member of our Unit Council and wants nothing more than to help make the work day more enjoyable for our coworkers. Whether that looks like making sure that supplies are well stocked and ready for the next emergency, our work areas are clean, or by cracking a joke and putting a smile on someone's face, Jason is there to provide.
Jason is an experienced nurse and can always be counted on to be cool and calm when an emergency arises. He is competent and caring in his clinical practice. I can honestly say that if any of my loved ones had to be hospitalized, I would hope that Jason was one of the nurses who cared for them.
