This is an emotional blow to us as parents, and Jason particularly was there with his understated, calm, professional manners, demystifying complex information
Our son, N, attempted suicide. He went to Littleton Adventist Hospital for surgery on a fractured vertebra, then to Denver Health for behavioral counseling. When he was transferred to SJH for surgery on his fractured heel, I was met with the most professional, caring, and communicative staff ever, led by Jason.

He went out of his way to let us know what doctors N had seen when we weren’t at the hospital. Jason’s team, including nurses and techs, were all supportive, attentive, and listened, then communicated to us what was happening.

As you can imagine, this is an emotional blow to us as parents, and Jason particularly was there with his understated, calm, professional manners, demystifying complex information from various doctors, PTs, OTs, etc.

Another shining light you have at SJH is your behavioral health nurses. When I told one of the nurses that I was shocked how little the other facilities did not give him any real skill building on how to cope with life’s disappointments, she jumped into action, got together a collated list of coping skills, and spent 30 minutes visiting with him.

Our son ended up not needing surgery, he was released and is at home getting better. Not once at SJH, did I hear “It’s not my job”. Our sincere thanks to Jason and the entire team that attended to our son at SJH. What a blessing you folks are!

PS – I don’t know what led N to be on the 5th floor cardiac unit at SJH, but we are so thankful that he ended up there, with such a superior staff to look after him. As I look at your selection criteria, the one intangible ‘healing presence’ might be the hardest to measure. Speaking on behalf of N and our family, your entire team projected a ‘healing presence’ consistently. Thank you again!!
