I came in for a total knee replacement. I had to stay in the hospital for three nights. Jason made us all feel comfortable during my stay. His personality is very welcoming and outgoing and makes us feel secure during my stay. These are just a few details of why I believe Jason Wiggins should receive the DAISY Award.

I was scheduled for neck surgery at Valley Medical Center and as it was my first surgery and I was very nervous. Jason was my 2nd shift nurse in the Joint and Spine Center. The first time I met Jason, he extended his hand and looked me straight in the eye and said, "I'm going to take really good care of you." At that exact moment, I connected with him and immediately I had no doubt he would do just that.
Jason was very understanding and was truly committed not only to my physical needs but my mental wellbeing. Jason's positive and encouraging attitude made me comfortable and prompted me to stay upbeat regarding my recovery process. Jason was very personable and never made me feel like, "just another patient" he made me feel like I was his only patient.
Jason is the ultimate professional, he was on top of my pain management and was constantly aware of my vitals and making sure everything was done correctly. Jason's attention to detail was one of many things he did that assured me that I was in good hands and thus made me feel very secure and confident that everything was going to be okay. Although Jason was very busy he was aware of little things as well. I told Jason my throat hurt because of the trachea tube and he was quick to offer some ice cream to make me feel better, he was receptive and responsible to whatever I needed.
Jason has a great personality and is very witty, I found myself laughing and almost forgetting I was at a #7-8 on the pain chart. Jason even shared portions of his personal life with me and we found we had much in common. He shines a very positive light on the nursing staff at Valley Medical Center and in my opinion, is a "star."
