Javier "Javi" Dorado is an outstanding Clinical Nurse Manager. Javi has been nominated by the entire staff of the Med/Surg Unit as a leader with spirit, heart, brilliance, compassion, and an attitude that anything is possible. Javi has helped to build a unit that has transitioned from being a closed department, with no regular staff, to an overflowing, in-patient unit, with critical capacity daily. The applications from experienced nurses poured in when the unit opened. Everyone wants to work for Javi. His strong leadership, human compassion, and willingness to build a team have resulted in a high-functioning department. VIP patients ask to be assigned to Javi's unit. Staff want to work their overtime shifts with Javi. Javi, and Nurse Manager Paula, have made an impossible unit, into a great healthcare department that provides safe, quality care.
