Javier’s patient was put on hospice and had a large family presence. Javier navigated the family dynamics with grace and respect. He was asked by the family if the Dr. could write a letter to the Mexican consult for the patient's son to get a Visa to see the patient before she passes. The provider didn’t have time and case management wasn’t available at the time either. Javier knew that time was of the essence and took it upon himself to figure out how to write a letter in Epic, get the doctor to sign it, and fax it to the consulate in a matter of an hour. The son did get his Visa, but unfortunately, his mother passed before he got here. The family was so grateful for Javier going above and beyond for their mother and the entire family. Javier exemplifies excellence in nursing in the holistic way he cares for all his patients and their families.
