After I had my son, he stopped latching and wouldn't breastfeed. Jawana took me and the situation very seriously. She came in every single feeding time and tried everything she could to get him to latch on. When she tried everything she knew and that didn't work, she researched and went to the charge nurse for advice. She got very creative and made sure I knew she wouldn't stop trying until my son started feeding. We tried all night and she helped with supplementing in the meantime. She never gave up on us and she consoled both of us in the hardest part of our stay.
Finally, Jawana used her knowledge, advice from other nurses, her research and resources and got him to start nursing again. Even then, she gave me tips and directions I could use at home if this were to happen again. She also kept me well informed and let me help make decisions on the care she provided. I don't know what I would've done if she weren't my nurse that night. She made sure my son stayed nourished and content. She also helped me keep my sanity when I was sleep-deprived and desperate and reassured me that I was doing everything right. She gave exceptional hands-on, individualized care and kept her promise. She truly cared for us! She took so much time out of her very busy night shift to make sure my son got everything needed. I will forever be grateful to her.
