Jay was kind, caring, sincere, and compassionate.
I was in the hospital for three days with diverticulitis. I used to say when I was younger “No Male Nurses” but I am way older now. I had the most wonderful nurse ever. The best nurse I have ever had. He came into my room with a caring smile and introduced himself. He was kind, caring, sincere, and compassionate. All the things you expect a nurse to have.
He knew I was in a lot of pain and could hardly walk all hunched over. He helped me up and led me to the restroom and said, “I will be out here if you need me. I won’t leave.” He cleaned up my room and fixed up my bed. When I went back to my bed it looked so nice, I hated to get back in and mess it up. Every time he came in, he would say, "Hi K, how are you? Can I get you anything?" He would ask how my pain was so he would do that and always bring me ice-cold water and offer me Jell-O or something. He always went the extra mile and would go out of his way to do anything.
I have always wanted to do something special for him for all the kindness he has shown me. So, when I saw this form, I had to show my gratitude and thank him. He is a total “Gem” and the best nurse ever. MedSurg should be very lucky to have him. He has shown all the qualities it takes to achieve this award. When I saw this card, I had to fill it out to tell you all “my story”. Jay, I just want to thank you for everything.
