February 2024 Honoree
Jay Davenport, RN
While having the hardest day of my and my kid’s lives, I met Jay. Jay came into our lives after my 40-year-old wife had a stroke. My wife, J, is what my world revolves around, and my kids idolize her. We are a very crazy and loud family and when Jay walked in, he went from very professional ICU nurse to family, instantly! You could see the understanding in his eyes. He showed love to us when he could have just told us to all get out. He treated us like we mattered to him and gave J the best care I’ve ever seen. My mom has had 2 strokes, and I’ve seen what good care can look like in the ICU. After leaving the ICU, we moved to the 7th floor, and the next day, there was a knock on the door of my wife’s room, and it was Jay. He came by to see us during his lunch break. That’s crazy to me! I appreciate Jay being considered for this honor as he deserves it and more. We love this man like family! Jay has affected our lives in a big way!
Thank you, Jay, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
