Jacee treated every moment with dignity, compassion and gentleness.
I would like to recognize Jacee and Hilary for the extraordinary compassion, empathy, and care they showed during the worst day of my life.

My best friend of 15 years passed away at 30 years old, leaving behind her husband and five children. She was a Type 1 diabetic who had recently begun suffering from seizures, and over the years her health complications had continued to worsen.

She was truly a beautiful soul, and I genuinely believe God handpicked her nurses that night. Jacee was her nurse, and when the time came to transition her to comfort care and remove the ventilator, she guided my best friend's mother through every step with incredible grace and patience. She gave her time and space needed to process the heartbreaking information she had received only hours earlier.

Jacee treated every moment with dignity, compassion and gentleness. When Jacee removed the ventilator, she stayed close by the entire time. I will never forget the look on her face as she called the time of death you could see that her heart was breaking too. In that moment, she wasn’t just doing a job she was carrying part of our grief with us.

That level of compassion is something I will never forget.

Hilary was an incredible support not only to Jacee, but to all of us. She comforted me with so much kindness, love and understanding. Even though I know she was extremely busy, she still took the time to sit with me, listen to my endless stories about my best friend, and allow me to grieve openly because she understood that I had lost a piece of my own heart.

Hilary also made keepsakes for us that I will cherish forever. As a nurse myself, I left that hospital feeling reminded of why I chose this profession in the first place. Jacee and Hilary exemplify everything nursing is meant to be.

Their compassion, empathy and humanity made an unbearable situation just a little more bearable, and I will forever be grateful for the care they gave not only to Taylor, but to everyone who loved her. These two women are nothing short of amazing, and they are exactly where they are meant to be.
