Jaycee Benson, RN
I’m 20 years old, and this was my very first time being in the emergency room alone. I was really hesitant to come in because I struggle with bad anxiety, and on top of that, I know that most of the doctors in southeast Arkansas are men. That thought made me even more nervous and unsure about what to expect.
The moment I met Jaycee, though, everything changed. I’m a very nervous person by nature, but she made me feel so comfortable that I didn’t even feel the need to ask a lot of questions. I trusted her enough to just let her take charge of what needed to be done, which is something I normally struggle with.
Even though my time there with her was short, her energy was so positive and radiant that it made all the difference. She made me feel safe, cared for, and not alone in a situation that could have easily been overwhelming.
Because of Jaycee, my first experience in the ER by myself turned into something reassuring instead of stressful. I’ll always remember how her kindness and presence helped ease my fears.
