Jaycie Wright always cares about her patients and she wants to make sure that they are given the best care possible. One day during clinical, she was taking care of a patient who had some severe anxiety about his upcoming procedure. Jaycie was able to go down and watch the procedure. During the procedure, the patient started to hyperventilate. In the middle of the procedure, Jaycie asked the doctor to stop and to wait until the patient's heightened anxiety subsided. Jaycie sat with him and talked with him to help him calm down.  Once the patient's anxiety reduced, they continued with the procedure. As nursing students, we are taught to advocate for our patients and to make sure that they are getting the best care. By seeing her patient's distress and speaking on his behalf, Jaycie definitely did that.
