Jaye Rupe is a fantastic ER nurse who in spite of a busy ER made me feel as if I was the most important person to her when she spoke. Being an ER Physician as well as Hospitalist I was delighted to see a nurse who was so compassionate to her patients. Jaye was quick to assess my pain and could tell when I was masking it. She placed an IV with little to no effort and described in detail how the medication would make me feel. She then, in spite of being smaller, guided me to the patient bed and when I asked her about Radiology she went to make sure OT got me. After the OT assessed pain, she checked on me frequently. She made the ER at Jefferson seem like a second home. Sometimes the best job isn't something exemplary but doing your job exemplary well. For this reason I nominate Jaye for exceptional care, thoughtfulness, and being a patient advocate.
