We were moved to comfort care, and that is where we were blessed by God to meet this nurse. To say she was a gift from God would be an accurate statement.
Jaye is extraordinary. After a few minutes of speaking with her, we knew that she was our people. We laughed and made jokes, and she made us feel extremely comfortable with her background and knowledge of hospice care. Her words and the way she explained the process was as if she was family and that our mother was her mother. A few stand-out moments was the preparatory medicine that would dry out our mother's throat as she prepared for her final passing. Without these two drops, her throat gargle would have been more unbearable. Even if the medicine was a placebo, we felt at ease. This nurse walked us through the process and signs that she was waiting for, including my mother's feet color, the beat of her heart, the sound of her lungs, and how that correlated with the next steps in final medical care. In the end, we would like to thank this nurse for being our sister and helping my mother pass onto the next World. Our dear mother entered the hospital and passed a few weeks later. She came in for excessive fluid on the body and pain. The staff did everything they could for her, but her condition was not to be remedied. We were moved to comfort care, and that is where we were blessed by God to meet this nurse. To say she was a gift from God would be an accurate statement. All of the staff were amazing, but this amazing nurse made all the difference in a difficult time for my family. To have someone put their everything into the care of your loved one and even shed a tear when she knew it was her final goodbye to us shows the character and heart that this nurse puts into her work.
