Jayne and I are colleagues. One day this summer I was feeling very tired and was experiencing a high level of anxiety. I had been to physical therapy for my elbow earlier in the day and attributed my feelings to that. As I was preparing to go home, I felt a horizontal pain across my chest that was increasing in intensity. I called out for Jayne, not sure if she was still at work. When she came around the corner she could tell I was in much distress. While she obtained a wheelchair for me, I began vomiting. Jayne had previously worked in the Cath Lab and felt I was having a heart-attack. She immediately rushed me by wheelchair to the Emergency Department, which is quite far from the Cancer Center. Once at the ED, Jayne stayed with me as the ED nurses prepped me for EKG. I was told that I was having a heart-attack (as Jayne suspected) and that I would be having emergency surgery. Jayne took my phone and contacted my emergency contact and family members. She remained with me, encouraging me to stay awake despite the unbearable pain I was experiencing, and reminded me of my family who loves and needs me.
Jayne Gallimore is one of the most caring and compassionate people I know and has a big heart. She works very hard for her patients and puts them all first. My family and I are forever grateful for her and her timely response. I am so thankful God brought this Angel into my life.
