Jayson is an advocate for this patient. He provides that extra special interest. Jayson will help the patient shower, helps him shave, and even trims his hair.
At times, there are patients because of insurance issues and mental status who are unable to be discharged safely from the hospital. This leads to months or sometimes years that a patient is confined to a hospital unit. Unfortunately, we have one such patient in the hospital now. Frequently in rounds, he is passed over because there is no realistic plan for discharge.
But there is one nurse on the unit who is an advocate for this patient and it is Jayson. He provides that extra special interest. Jayson will help the patient shower, helps him shave, and even trims his hair. The patient has special wound care that prohibits daily showers but the wound needs to be cleansed and Jayson works with the wound care team to provide this patient with a complete makeover.
Jayson shows sincere kindness and interest in this patient. Not only does he provide the routine care but also fulfills the need for respect, dignity, and worth as an individual for this patient. It is the "people therapy" that so many of our elders need and especially this elder who is in isolation. He advocates for the health and safety of this patient through compassion personalized care.
He exudes the confidence and competence of an outstanding nurse clinically. He exceeds expectations and always tailors his plan of care to his patient's most unique needs. He routinely has family members ask to speak with management in regards to the excellent care he delivers. He has a penchant for explaining information to patients and family members in a way they can easily understand. Jayson can often be found overextending a helping hand to all of our patients at Trinitas.
Jayson's skill goes beyond the tangible attributes of a strong clinical nurse. He has touched the lives of his patients in ways words cannot fully describe. He fully understands the humanistic nature of the nursing profession and responds to his patients' needs in a manner that provides them the utmost dignity. He collaborates with every discipline effectively to meet his patient's needs in a holistic manner.
