Jayson is a perfect example of a DAISY Nurse. He is an example of all the ICARE values. I can always count on Jayson anytime I have a question, help, or cheering up. Jayson always starts his workdays with a smile and a good morning. He will ensure that everyone on his team is taken care of and will step in when needed. We had a nurse who was new to homes and was needing help with pediatric vaccines, without hesitation or complaint he left the Shed and drove to the clinic the Nurse was having trouble at to give help and support. When you ask Jayson questions about something he will give you the answer or he will research the answer with you, talk with you about it and then follow back up with you in the next day or two to ensure you understand and do not have further questions. Jayson always brings positivity to our team by sending encouraging messages and memes daily. He is always positive when he sees something can be better or done differently and is always willing to work with the HOMES nursing team to try and get everyone’s input, advise, and concerns. Jayson shows our patients compassion even when they are not compliant.

During the Ice storm, we worked at Austin Street on the med van for the emergency shelter. We were informed by the volunteers we had a patient to came in from a tent camp with wounds due to sitting in feces and urine in her wheelchair for too long. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to see patients in wheelchairs on the med van so I asked the provider if Jayson is willing can he and I find the patient, check on her, and report back so the patient could get the care she needed. Jayson did not hesitate to help me in my search for this patient. We found her and the wounds were more than the med van could handle so we had to explain to her she would need to go to the hospital to get care for her wounds. Jayson made sure we explained to her at her level why she needed to go and we arranged for Austin Street to secure her items so she would not lose the only belongings she had. We are lucky to have Jayson on our team, he should be the next HOMES DAISY Nurse!
