My 60-year-old brother drove himself to the ER with what he described as the worst headache ever, not knowing that he would be diagnosed with a small intracranial bleed shortly thereafter. When my sister and I walked into the room, his first words were not even hello but, "They are taking good care of me." His nurse was Jazmin Valdez. My brother pointed her out as she entered the room, saying, "See, here she is, Sis!" Jazmin was very attentive, frequently checking on him and the medication infusion (Cardene drip). Jazmin shared the next steps and plan. She explained everything she did in the room. The care and concern this nurse showed us during a very frightening situation were awesome, too! She took the time to explain everything from labs and tests planned to updates on plans for transfer to the Stroke Center, and ETA for the ambulance. I watched her transport my brother to CT. Jamin had such a kind tone, facial expression, and gentle demeanor. Every time we needed her, she was right there. We felt supported, informed, respected, and well cared for at Methodist North ER. Jazmin is indeed a stellar representation of what nursing care should look like everywhere. Trust me, we will not forget her.

Though I focused on Jazmin in this communication, I must mention how everyone I encountered, from the security officer to the receptionist, and the nurses and techs at the desk, were all so kind and helpful to us. Additionally, the great care we received continued with the nurses and doctors at Methodist University ICU and Stepdown! We felt so blessed!
