After a long, busy day in the procedural area, JB Carlos started his on-call shift with a patient recently placed on hospice. The patient came to the procedural area for a procedure to help make the patient feel comfortable. JB was unaware it had been a difficult week for the patient and family who just made the decision for hospice. His exceptional attentiveness, compassion, and commitment to his patient and family shined when the patient was mid procedure, and he called the husband so he could be on the phone to support his wife during the minor procedure. His empathy toward her needs in her difficult time, allowed the patient’s husband to provide reassurance. It was appreciated both by the patient and her husband. The patient's husband stated his appreciation of the excellent care and efforts the team provided. I have no doubt that JB's excellence was instrumental in providing comfort to the patient and her family during their difficult time. JB Carlos is an exceptional nurse, always providing his patients with compassionate care and always goes above and beyond.
