Last night he gave our son, at our request, a sponge bath sitting in the bathtub rather than in the bed. Bob was singing and cutting up the entire time.
Bob has been our son's nurse for 2 days now. Not only has he been incredibly capable (like all our PICU and ONCO nurses), but he has also been so much fun making our son laugh. He sings beautifully and when we talked about wishing we were on the beach, he put on beach music then played our son's favorite songs.
Last night he gave our son, at our request, a sponge bath sitting in the bathtub rather than in the bed. Bob was singing and cutting up the entire time. He makes hard things fun for our son. He has been observant of the little medical details but also our mood. When he learned that I had trouble sleeping on the hard couch, he arrived with something he thought might soften it to help get more sleep. He's quiet when he senses we need to have a serious conversation with each other but is happier to engage and tell stories. He has been an outstanding nurse in a group of outstanding nurses.
