There can't be a better way to kick off Nurses' Week than by saying THANK YOU to each and every one of our nurses.
A very special thanks, though, goes to Jean Bulkeley - the second person ever in the health system to reach 55 years of service.
Jean was presented with The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award for her career contributions to nursing, and for truly being one of the kindest and most amazing people you will ever meet in your life.
Jean graduated from the PGH School of Nursing and has held quite a variety of positions throughout her remarkable 55-year career at PRMC, including Staff Nurse in the CCU, Head Nurse on North 3, Head Nurse of the CCU, Staff Development Instructor in the In-Service Education Department and Nursing Director for CCU, 2 East and Hemodialysis. In 2001, Jean was named Nursing Director for Critical Care, 2 South, 2 West, and 4 West.
Jean currently works as one of the Administrative Nursing Supervisors for Patient Care Services.
Co-workers say that she leads by example and treats everyone with respect. Jean personifies commitment, dedication, and honesty, and is known for having one of the sharpest minds around. She is quick to apply what she has learned over her 55 years to a variety of challenging positions, all the while making patients and staff aware of what is really happening.
Jean is active in the community, and her expertise coordinating nurses for our Drive-Thru Flu Clinic is what makes that event run as smoothly as it does. Peninsula Regional is eternally grateful that Jean has spent her entire career here.
Jean, you are truly one of kind!
