Nominations from patients' families:
*We have been coming to the CHF clinic for years. Jean has the very best interest of each patient regarding their individual needs. She is an asset to the hospital and deserving of the DAISY Award.
*Patients in the clinic are always assessed and educated for the signs and symptoms of exacerbation. The whole patient and family support of the disease process is addressed. She is always professional. Jean is very neat in appearance and has an exceptional attitude. The doctors depend on her thorough professional assessments and decision making skills. She and her staff work very well together.
*My husband has been coming for over 4 years to have fluid taken off. We credit Jean and her staff with the excellent care that makes it possible for him to stay at home. She has a special interest in each patient in keeping up with medications etc. She is a most deserving individual of this award and an asset to the hospital.
From coworkers:
*I met Jean Rambo, RN in 1998 when she came to run the CHF Clinic. I knew right away that she was a special person and an exceptional, caring, compassionate nurse. I found out quickly that heart patients and especially heart failure patients were dear to her heart. She has worn many hats over the years as a nurse, but found her niche when came to the clinic. Over the years, like all programs, the CHF Clinic has faced financial challenges. Jean has been a strong champion for the clinic and effective advocate for her patients. She has sought best practices in the delivery of care to heart failure patients. She goes the extra mile and her patients light up when they see her. Jean is the “go between” with her patients and their doctors and frequently calls to check up on them. She educates her patients on diet restrictions and reiterates when they stray. Jean also is a great educator to coworkers and is a wonderful mentor. She has taught me more than I ever learned in school.
*I knew the face of Jean long before I knew her name. She always was so professional in every move she made. She was quiet and efficient as well as loud enough to get things done. Her commitment to our profession is as strong as it comes. What an impact one very small lady can have on the lives of so many! She has indeed set the bar high for the rest of us; a DAISY nurse in every sense of the word and probably could have written the book.
