Today was possibly one of the darkest days of my life. My husband of 42 years was admitted overnight for alcohol withdrawal.
Even though I was aware of his drinking. I was totally unaware of the extent. He is a minister, a loving and gracious man, and apparently a very high functioning alcoholic.
Calling 911 last night was horrible and humiliating. When he was admitted I felt desperate and lost.
In the midst of my darkness, there was one amazingly bright light. Her name was Jeanette.
With more compassion, concern, and care than was imaginable, she walked us through the day that became increasingly more difficult and stressful. Words cannot describe how she helped my husband physically and supported me and our children emotionally.
I know that there are many arduous days ahead. But we can make it. Jeannette made us believe it.
