Jeanice taught me what she was looking at and why. She then cleaned my legs. They have not been this clean and attended to in years. She never rushed or made me feel like a burden.
While rounding with a patient in the ED, they shared a compliment with me about an outstanding nurse. The patient shared that she came in last night for weakness and back pain, thinking that it was a UTI. She has received home health services three times a week for her BLE wraps for a very long time. The home health missed their typical visit on Monday (their last time over was on Friday) due to illness.
The patient said, "Jeanice took the time and unwrapped my legs. She never wrinkled her nose or made a comment about the smell. She showed me the drainage on the dressings and asked me if this was normal. She taught me what she was looking at and why. She then cleaned my legs. They have not been this clean and attended to in years. She never rushed or made me feel like a burden. She cleaned both of my legs and then reapplied the dressings. She applied the dressings better than half of the wound care staff that have worked with me. Her attention to the details of the dressings and my legs helped the doctor to correctly diagnosis my cellulitis. I didn't even notice what Jeanice found while assessing my legs.
Jeanice also made sure that I was transitioned into a more comfortable bed. She worked with the other nurses to put me into a quieter room so I could get rest while awaiting my transfer to a different facility. Jeanice made sure that I was treated like royalty. If this hospital did dialysis, I would stay here forever!
Jeanice continued to check on my comfort level throughout the night. Anything that I needed, she already had. She kept my pain controlled, was able to start an IV on the first try, and was simply a joy to meet. Jeanice is probably one of the most compassionate, kind, and knowledgeable nurses I have ever encountered. Thank you for having the best staff! I will request Jeanice every time that I visit RMC."
