Jeanie had a rough night on at the beginning of the first covid surge. I stopped and was chatting with her about her night and at the end of the conversation on a chance I offered her the opportunity to work on the covid expansion unit as charge. I was honest and told her 'it could be a good night it could be another challenging night'. She decided she'd be willing to take the change and work on that unit. Not only did she go that night but she went multiple nights into a new unknown. She helped to lead and support floated nurses and flex/travelers to help make the best experience and provide the care the patients deserved. Since then she has even reached out to share ways the unit can be improved for future patients and team members if we had to open again. She is a DAISY Nurse not only because of the ways she care for current patients but also for the ways she looks to care for future patients.
